Montagna Amica Ostello Ristoro is located in Pescopennataro in the Italian Central Apennines (41°52’ N, 14°17’ E), the second highest peaks after the Alps, nested among the regions of Abruzzo and Molise.
We will meet in Rome to then get the coach to Pescopennataro, Molise. A flight from the UK to Rome costs around £100-150 but it can be also cheaper at certain times and depending on the airline (£50). There are two main airports serving Rome: Fiumicino, the larger one on the west coast, and Ciampino, the smaller one on the east side of the city and on the way to Molise. There is ample choice if you would like to explore Rome or Italy before or after your trip, Florence is only a short train journey north of Rome, and Naples, Pompeii and the Vesuvius, are less than two hours south. As Rome is a large touristy city, there are lots of pickpocketers around, so be alert around large train stations and in busy areas. The currency is the Euro and Italian is the official language, although English is spoken (more or less perfectly) by (mainly) younger Italians.
